China Visa Requirements

Basic Documents:

• Passport:

• Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages

• A photocopy of the passport’s data page and the photo page (if separate)

• Any old/canceled original passports from 1st January 2016 onwards must be provided

• Visa Application Form and Photo:

• One Visa Application Form and two recently-taken color passport photos (bare-head, full face) against a white background

• Proof of Legal Stay or Residence Status:

• Applicable to those not applying for the visa in their country of citizenship

• Provide the original and photocopy of your valid visa of stay, residence, and employment or student status of the country where you are currently staying

• Photocopy of Previous Chinese Passports or Previous Chinese Visas:

• Applicable to those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship

• If applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, provide your previous Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page

• If you have obtained Chinese visas before and are applying with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, present the photocopy of the previous passport’s data page, the photo page (if separate), and the previous Chinese visa page

• Police Clearance Certificate:

• Required for first-time travel to China or if you haven’t traveled to China for 5 years

• The certificate must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Pakistan

Supporting Documents:

• Verification Letter of Invitation or Invitation Letter (TE):

• Provided by a relevant entity or individual in China

• Supporting Letter from the Organization:

• A letter from the organization that the applicant serves in. (Template of Cover Letter)

• Local Police Character/Clearance Certificate:

• Attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan for the firsttime visit to China within the last five years

• Invitation Letter:

• Issued by a relevant entity or individual in China

• The copy of Chinese ID and contact number of the legal person of the Chinese inviting company

• If the legal person is a foreigner, provide the copy of the passport

• Tax Payment Certificate:

• The applicant’s tax payment certificate of the last three years (photocopy) and registration of the organization which the applicant serves in (photocopy)

• Account Maintenance Certificate and Bank Statement:

• Both company and personal bank statements for the last six months

• Round-trip Air Tickets and Hotel Booking:

• Required for first-time visitors to China

• Additional Requirements:

• The consular officer may require other supporting documents or supplementary materials, or ask for an interview with the applicant

• The applicant for certain types of Visas (D, Q1, Q2, S1, S2, X1, X2 & Z) should come in person for an interview

• For first-time visitors to China within the last five years, an inperson interview and a local police character/clearance certificate are required

• Consular Officer’s Discretion:

• The consular officer has the final decision on visa issuance, validity, duration of stay, and number of entries according to the specific conditions of the applicant

• Biometric Data Collection:

• From 15th May 2019 onward, all Pakistani visa applicants must provide all 10 fingerprints

• Exceptions apply to applicants under 14 and above 70, diplomatic visas, and those who have provided fingerprints within the last 5 years with the same passport

• MOFA Attestation:

• Any Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan attestation submitted with the visa application must have a working (scannable) QR code for verification

• Attestations from the Quetta office must be done within 6 months

If Unemployed, Student, or Housewife:

• Business Documentation:

• Proof of Financial Support: Letter from a financial supporter such as a parent, spouse, or guardian

 

• Supporting Documents: Financial supporter’s bank statements, salary slips, or proof of income
